I want to know if there is anyone out there in the world that has a closet full of clothes, containers full of accessories and still nothing to wear?! It’s like no matter how many times you open and close your closet NOTHING is there for you to wear! Guess what? You are not alone my friend. This happens to me quiet often! I don’t know what the root causes of these wardrobe farts are. You see, I can get dressed without a problem on any random day. BOOM! Pants, shirt, blazer, accessories, DONE!.. and I look cute! But then there is “that day” when I have to go to a special event where I loose all of my stylish creativity… I have a complete “wardrobe fart.” For starters, a wardrobe fart is a term that I made up (I think I did anyway, since I never heard of it before). It is similar to a brain fart except it has to deal with clothes. It is when you look in your closet and instead of seeing your wardrobe you see everything in black and grey. You can’t see color and you don’t know how to put a simple outfit, a like shirt with pants, together. You find yourself in a frantic panic and try on every single outfit in your closet and nothing looks right because for some odd reason your eyes are playing a mean trick on you! AHHHH!!! THE AGONY! AHHH! THE CLOTHES! AHHH! THE MESS!! Who is going to clean this room now? SMH ANYWHOOO! This happens to me, for the most part on Sunday’s, right before church and when I have photo shoots. I have no idea why. It could be that I am over thinking it or I am trying too hard to look cute when I know I am cute. Can you relate? The better question to ask is: Why does this happen? Sadly, I have no clue. I think this is one of those questions that we will never get the answer to, kind of like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?… The world may never know. I don’t know about you, but that is ok with me. I think it’s ok if girls have issues with finding clothes to wear. BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS! God cares about what we wear and He wants to help us out! Check this out! In Matthew 6:25 (NIV) Jesus tells us not to worry about our life, what we will eat, drink or wear because life is more than food and clothes. I like to believe that Jesus knew we would have these wardrobe farts and He gave us the solution so we would not have to deal with these farts every again! Are you ready? Here are 3 things you can do to get rid of WARDROBE FARTS! 1. Don’t worry about it, relax– Do not stress or make a big deal out of your outfit. It will come together. Take a step back and breathe because it’s not about what you wear! You are more important than the clothes you wear. Philippians 4:6 says Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 2. Know that God’s got you- God takes care the flowers in the field! Don’t you see how beautiful they are? Don’t you think God will dress you and take care of you? The Message Bible (Matthew 6:27-29) Has anyone by fussing in front of the mirror ever gotten taller by so much as an inch? All this time and money wasted on fashion—do you think it makes that much difference? Instead of looking at the fashions, walk out into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They never primp or shop, but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. Matthew 6:30-33“If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers—most of which are never even seen--don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied withgetting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. 3. Pray about it- God wants you to pray about everything! Yes, even about what you should wear! God cares about you! Other people may not think a wardrobe fart is a big deal, but to God, He cares about everything that concerns you! 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says, “be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.” So take the pressure off of yourself and give it to God by asking Him to help you get your outfits together. Ask God to remove the grey and black from your eyes so you won’t have wardrobe farts. AND HE WILL DO IT! XOXO, Cherise “Don’t Forget Your Confidence.”
