Joy V. Morgan, Ed.M Future Leaders Institute for Girls, Director "On behalf of the Future Leaders Institute for Girls, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for facilitating the "Wear Your Confidence" workshop during our inaugural summer institute. The girls in attendance loved you and your session so much, we just had to have you back for our subsequent quarterly session, "The Princess Within." In both workshops, my staff and I watched the transformation of these teenage girls right before our very eyes! In the beginning of your presentations, many of the young ladies were soft-spoken, and exhibited a demeanor & posture that spoke to their lack of confidence in who they were. But by the end of those sessions, you had our girls sitting up straight, walking confidently, speaking boldly and unashamedly declaring over themselves positive affirmations. The staff and I noted that this particular class marked a turning point for some of the girls in our summer institute, for up to that stage of the program, we couldn't get them to come "out of their shell. "My sincerest thanks to you for positively impacting the lives of these young teenage girls. We look forward to a long-standing partnership with "Wear Your Confidence."" |
Monica S. I Love Me (Burlington Chapter), Director "Wow! The "I Love Me" mentoring program had an awesome time with Ms. Cherise from Wear Your Confidence. She helped us realize that we are beautiful just the way we are. Two exercises were done. First, the girls had to compare themselves to a statute. The statute was missing an arm, a nose was chipped and had other flaws. So the girls began to write down the imperfections of the statute and considered it worthless and ugly. As the girls compared themselves to the statue they later learned they had much in common with it. The statute was very valuable and people would pay millions to have it. The girls learned that they too are valuable and beautiful just the way they are. Secondly the mirror exercises was done were the girls had to examine themselves while looking into a mirror and writing down what they saw. Some girls began to list what they felt were flaws across the mirror like "nose to big", "pimples," "face is fat & round." As they began to fill up the mirror it began to block the true image of who they really are. Cherise helped the girls to realize that their perception of themselves is not what God sees at all when looking at them. It taught them to love themselves. The mirror exercises help them to realize that what they see in the mirror is beautiful in Gods eyes and that God makes no mistakes. Both exercises showed the girls that they are "...beautifully and wonderfully made. The ILM girls would like to thank you for sharing your confidence.” |

De'Nita M. Irvington, New Jersey "I love the tone of the book, from the very beginning. It’s very encouraging and uplifting, it’s like a pep-talk to pep-talk myself and to do it daily! I love the different sections, as it makes it easy to refer back to a befitting compliment when I need a pick-me-up and need to refer to this book again & again! As I was reading, some of the compliments made me think, ‘oh, I can compliment that?!’ I, now, have more to intentionally love on myself for and about! I’m encouraged to take better care of myself so that I can sincerely believe some of these compliments and I think that’s great, too! There’s always room for improvement! I laughed enough, too, while reading, thanks Ms. Folkes, for it! I would recommend this book to women of all ages! I believe that it will help set a standard of self-worth and self-love that is needed, especially for women in today’s society. It will help those women who are always so serious; to relax and laugh at themselves and it will encourage those who are always joking, to acknowledge the great talent, gifts and needed presence and grace only they can offer to this world! This book will make a wonderful gift for yourself or for any woman you know!" |

12 years old "The thing that was most helpful to me was me being able to realize I can't change the things I don't like about myself. I have to just live with it. I used to think when I was younger, I'm gonna get surgery so I can remove my mole and all my hair that I have, but when we did the mirror activity I realized I can't change that. God made me the way I am and he did it for a reason so I was happy that you knocked some sense into me!!!!!!!!" |
