Work it GIRLS!
4/21/2014
As you all know I attended the Fifth Annual Positively Dressed Fashion Show and I must say the girls did an excellent job! I was very impressed with all of them! I found myself a little nervous for them as well. I didn’t want any of them to fall or have a dress malfunction, thank God that wasn’t the case. For many of the girls this was the first time they ever walked in a fashion show, but you wouldn’t have known that on Sunday. I had to do a double take because I didn’t recognize some of the girls! They really practiced! They were walking with confidence too! Their heads were up and they were looking at everyone in the audience. Some girls even blew kisses and winked at the crowd as they walked (I didn’t teach them that). They were being themselves and I enjoyed that the most! Not only did the girls model but some of them showcased their talents. Some recited poetry they had written, some sang and others praise danced. I was well pleased with the talent that I witnessed. They are our future and they desire to be heard and to succeed. Many of the girls were from Camden and their poems were about real life situations and how even though they live in an area full of crime they refuse to let their environment bring them down. They have hope in themselves! I was inspired as I heard their poems as well. Girls need to be encouraged, pushed and uplifted and that is exactly why Wear Your Confidence is here! I have to help thee girls realize that they don’t have to be like the girls they see on TV. They don’t have to be another statistic. They can overcome that through faith, faith in Jesus Christ! (Let me calm down a bit) All in all, I am glad that there are organizations like this that allow girls to not only showcase their outer beauty but also to show their inner beauty and talents. It is not about what’s on the outside. Everything on the outside can be beautiful but if you have an ugly personality it means nothing! Do you feel me? No? Ok, keep reading. What good is a piece of candy if when you bite into it is bitter and sour? It looks good on the outside but when you bite into it you are sadly mistaken. The candy no longer looks good to you. Do you want to be like that piece of candy that everyone stays away from? I don’t think so. That is why it is important to be sweet on the inside and let that shine through on the outside! Don’t just look sweet, be sweet! *And as always... Don’t forget your confidence! Here are some pictures from the show! ENJOY!
